William Eugene White, 85, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 14, 2026, at his residence. He was born on January 4, 1941, in Muncie, Indiana, to Mahlon White and Maxine (Pat) Franklin.
William attended Muncie Central High School and earned his GED while serving in the United States Army. He honorably served his country, including service during the Vietnam War, from 1958 until his retirement in 1978. Following his military career, he was employed at Ball Memorial Hospital and later at Crystal Glass.
William is survived by his children: Delena Main; William White II; George White (Susan); and Anthony White; as well as two children from his second marriage, Lisa Omelko (Michael) and Stevie Montgomery (Stephanie Abel). He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren—Christina, Jessica, Elise, Curtis, Natalie, Amanda, Paul, Jared, Christian, and Ellie—and seven great-grandchildren: Bently, Gracelynn, Jordan, Charley, Caiden, Laylah, and Lillie. He is also survived by one brother, Larry Smith; one sister, Judy Ziems; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to Curtis White and Amelia Gowin for their devoted care and support during William’s final weeks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 32 years, Leona White; his sister, Patricia “Patty” Tuttle; his brother, Butch Franklin; and his grandchild, Duncan Gragg. In accordance with William’s wishes, there will not be any formal funeral services. Cremation will take place, and the family will hold a public celebration of life on January 30, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Eagles.
