Sandra Juliann (Ward) Gill

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sandra J. (Ward) Gill, Muncie, IN, announces that Sandra, 87, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026.

Sandra was born on June 29, 1938, in Muncie, Indiana, to Webster and Edith (Hunt) Ward. She grew up in Muncie alongside her five brothers and sisters. Sandra was proud to have earned her GED as a married mother, and during her children’s early years, she served as a room mother in their elementary school classrooms. Over the years, she worked at Owens-Illinois, Veil Foods, and Bartlett Imports before retiring. Sandra and her husband, John C. Gill, shared 54 years of marriage. She loved to cook and sew, always creating or mending things, and she made countless blankets for family, friends, and anyone who needed one.

Sandra is survived by her sister, Lois Coulson (Joe); her daughters, Sharon Heritage, Rhonda Gates, and Cynthia Conner (Tim); her son, Jon (Amy); and her grandchildren, Trisha Tilley (Brock), Lacey Lewis, Casey Conner (Autumn), Declan Gill, Regan Gill, and Brandon Lewis. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren Jayden, Kaitlyn, Camden, Braxton, Ethan, and Ellie, along with many nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law, Linda Gill. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, her brothers Vernon Ward and William Ward, and her sisters Mary Luzader and Carla Ward.

Sandra cherished her family and loved hosting birthdays and holiday gatherings in her home. She found joy in tending her flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, and watching the birds and squirrels empty the four feeders in her front yard.  Sandra often went without so that others could have more. Her thoughtful check-ins, comforting calls, and steady words of encouragement will be missed more than words can express. Her generosity, kindness, and love will leave a lasting impression on all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at Parson Mortuary on March 6, 2026. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the service at 1:00 p.m. Private graveside services will follow
