Bruce Evans Obituary

Bruce A. Evans, 60, of Muncie, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with his dear friend and companion, Susan Litherland, by his side. He was born on July
19, 1965, in Muncie, Indiana, to Velma and Bill Evans. Bruce graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1983.

Bruce worked for many years at the Indiana State Penitentiary as a cook. In later years, he worked at Big Shots, organizing pool tournaments and competitions.

He was quick-witted and a man of many talents – he loved to golf and was a “professional” putt-putt golf player with total career earnings of $500.  He was also a pretty good ping pong player, often dominating the table at Muncie Central High School during lunch.  He won several Gus Macker Trophies with Mike Stafford and Mark McKinney.  He was a professional DJ and did an incredible Bobby Darin impression, singing “Mack the Knife” or anything by Old Blue Eyes.  He was an excellent billiards player and was obsessed with playing poker, making many trips to Las Vegas. He earned the nickname “The Diesel” during a trip to Biloxi, MS, for his ability to play cards all night long and still make his tee time the next morning! Bruce was extremely good at
trivia, especially questions pertaining to entertainment and pop culture.

A life-long Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Bruce cheered on the team long after the glory days of the “Terrible Towel.” He was a serious cook and loved making cheesecakes and other dishes for his friends and family. Bruce doted on his mother and took her for many car “buggy” rides. Bruce was the life of every party he threw or attended and was one of the very best storytellers around. Even though he fought many health issues and became one of the longest-living dialysis patients in the state, he still had an energy that was contagious. He was entertaining and wisecracking until the end.

Bruce leaves behind to cherish his memory, his brother, Darryl Evans, and sister Marilyn Mitchell (Billy F. Mitchell, Sr.), his dear friend and companion, Susan Litherland,
as well as life-long friends Mark and Joann McKinney, and many friends from Silver Birch. Special thanks to his caregivers at The Brickyard. He was preceded in death by
his parents.

A celebration of life will be planned later. Parsons Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent to the family at parsonmortuary.com or in care of Susan Litherland at 2500 W. Kilgore Ave, Muncie, Indiana 47304.
